About Us

All Inclusive Care for your Family and Household

Valley Pet Sitting Favicon
Valley Pet Sitting is one of the top local professional in-home pet care providers fully staffed with experienced, background checked, and loving pet sitters. At VPS, we care about our staff and their futures – which is why we classify them as employees and not contractors. This also means we are able to provide a uniform approach for our pet care as well as regular training refreshers – so regardless of which sitter is paired with your home; your care will be provided with the same Valley Pet Sitting care standard.

We view each and every single one of our clients as a member of our VPS family. It is our pleasure to go above and beyond the call of duty whenever needed. While our employees are on the clock, they are never alone! There are always two or more office staff on standby to monitor and assist pet sitters with questions they may have while in the field or offer in person assistance in the event of an emergency. Since pets can be unpredictable, each pet sitter is uniformly trained according to our care standard, allowing them assist or step in for one another when ‘timid dog’ or ‘scaredy cat’ delays occur. Of course, for more sensitive pups or kitts we offer more exclusive care options.

Meet the Founder and Owner

SHIRA WINITZKY

Hi! I’m Shira, the Founder and Owner of Valley Pet Sitting Inc. Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved animals. I didn’t have any of my own at the time so I would go door to door in my Woodland Hills neighborhood, within walking distance from my home, doing dog walks and pet sitting so I could spend time with them. Growing up in the San Fernando Valley I made friends with various people that needed extra help with their animals, which gave me the opportunity to take care of a wide range of them from dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, fish, horses, pigs, chickens, geckos, turtles, exotics, livestock and more! In my teenage years my family decided to have their first family dog that was a beautiful Lhasa Apso Terrier mix named Bobi, my first soul dog, and best friend. She and I were always together, she would wait for me to come home, and wherever I went she would be by my side. One of our favorite adventures was at a nearby park, that not only had great hiking trails, but also had a double slide that we both had a blast going down at the same time.

I then left for college in beautiful San Diego, CA to get my bachelor’s degree in marketing at SDSU and had the opportunity to work at Sea World as an Educator where I taught all the guests about the various marine life they encountered. In college I also got my first black long-haired cat named Leo that was a great companion while away. When I graduated, I came back home and accepted a Marketing Director position at a rug and furniture retail store that I worked in for 10 years. I had always known that although I loved the company I worked for, that I wanted to do something I was very passionate about and was my own. I had an outstanding boss there named Mychelle that helped shape the type of owner I have become and to this day we are still very close. In 2010 the company decided to relocate their office out of state, I had the option to either move with them or stand on my own.  At the time I was also a Capoeira Instructor and one of my students had a busy career that needed help walking her dog every week, so she asked me if I knew anyone, and I offered to do it. As I contemplated my next career move, I recalled how much I loved taking care of animals when I was younger, and that I wanted to do it again but on a bigger scale. It was at that moment that I decided to risk it all and create my own business combining my passion for animals and taking care of people. I’ve always loved being that person you could count on when needed whether for family, friends, or people that had a busy schedule or went on vacation. I started meeting various people that needed pet sitting and dog walking services, so I began as the sole pet sitter for about 2 years and grew my clientele from a few clients to 21 clients a day. I went all over the San Fernando Valley early morning to late night and loved every minute of it.

As demand increased and business picked up, I decided to expand my company and hired 2 team members at first to become pet sitters that also loved animals and had a lot of experience. As the business continued to grow, I can proudly say my vision and dreams for Valley Pet Sitting Inc. have come true with an amazing office and sitter team covering service areas from Thousand Oaks to Studio City, Porter Ranch to Simi Valley, and all cities in-between in the San Fernando Valley.

Currently I have a 55-gallon freshwater tropical fish tank, 2 soul dogs: Mamba – Poodle mix and Raven – Bichon/Yorkshire Terrier, and my cat Dante. I’m grateful to own and love my company, always looking forward to the next adventure and experiences we can create for our clients and our team. It means a lot to give my clients the support they need whether it’s a busy workday or to enjoy a vacation.

We look forward to working with you, loving your animals as though they are our own, and being there when you need us.

Meet The Management Team

Abby

Abby

Manager

Abby is a great addition to the VPS Office Team! She has vast knowledge of rats, guinea pigs, bunnies, fish, lizards, snakes, dogs, and cats whether she has cared for them for others or owned them herself.

Abby has loved animals since the moment she was born, enjoyed reading books about them, and she even tried to convince her mom to let her get a donkey (she never got one, but a girl can dream!). Abby lived in Arizona most of her life where she got to learn and observe lots of different wildlife around her before she moved to Los Angeles. She currently has a cat named Zoey, a bearded dragon named Lil Liz X, a chihuahua named Dandi, and enjoys caring for all types of animals whenever needed. Abby has rescued all of her animals and has also fostered many others! She hopes to someday be a foster for senior animals and make sure they get the love and care they deserve in their final stages of life!

Sharon

Sharon

Assistant Operations Manager

Sharon has always loved animals and wanted to combine her passion for them and her experience in business. Before working for us, she came from a background of her family’s retail business and worked at various other companies as an operations manager. She has loved all animals since having her own first dog Shilgy, and it grew from there where she took care of both cats and dogs for various friends and relatives. Several years ago, she discovered her passion for aquatic life; becoming an expert in fish care having had over 4 freshwater fish tanks and learning about breeding, feeding, and their maintenance needed. Sharon helps oversee the day-to-day tasks making sure our Office/Sitters have the proper information needed to take the best care of our clients.

Jasmine

Jasmine

Office/Creative Dept

Jasmine originally started as a sitter at Valley Pet Sitting and now uses her background in animal care and past administrative experience to assist our office. As an avid animal lover, Jasmine has owned birds, dogs, cats, hamsters and a variety of fish. She is born and raised in the Los Angeles valley and currently has three rescues: one German Shepherd mix, Neo, and two cats named Mochi and Kaia. Prior to starting at Valley Pet Sitting, Jasmine got her BA degree in psychology and worked part time as a dog walker in her area. She’s always had a soft spot for big dogs and has rescued/fostered animals since childhood.
Sage

Sage

Office/Creative Dept

Sage has been a big animal lover since she was young but was never able to have any due to her mom being allergic to most animals with fur. That didn’t stop her from loving any animal she was able to meet, and she’d become best friends with her next door neighbors’ pets and family dogs! As Sage grew up, she quickly got into pet care, working as an employee for doggy daycare, dog grooming, and then became a pet sitter for VPS! Sage worked as a sitter for VPS for three years before moving to the office side. She loves being able to interact with clients as well as their animals. Currently, Sage doesn’t own any pets but hopes to in the future! Now she loves her roommate’s cats Zelda and James like they are her own :).
